Creative routines

Make a small creative practice easier to begin

Consistency grows when the first step is obvious and the session is allowed to stay modest.

Prepare a visible starting point

Leave the notebook open, the instrument accessible, or the project file named and ready. The first minute should not be spent searching for materials or deciding what kind of session this will become. A clear entry point makes limited time more useful.

Define a minimum that still counts

Ten minutes, one sketch, a paragraph, or a single exercise can be a complete session. The minimum is not a ceiling; it is a way to begin without negotiating with an ideal version of the day. Longer work can grow naturally when energy is available.

Finish by setting up tomorrow

Write one sentence about where to continue or place the next tool within reach. This small handoff connects separate sessions and reduces the uncertainty of returning. Progress becomes a chain of understandable beginnings rather than repeated fresh starts.

In brief: Prepare the first step, keep the minimum small, and leave a clear handoff for the next session.
